Frequently Asked Questions

  • Arupadai Veedu refers to the six sacred abodes (temples) of Lord Murugan across Tamil Nadu. These temples have immense spiritual significance as they represent different aspects of Lord Murugan's divine manifestation and life events. The six temples are Palani (where he stands as a renunciate), Thiruchendur (where he conquered demon Soorapadman), Thirupparankundram (where he married Devayanai), Pazhamudhircholai (where he gave wisdom to Sage Agastya), Swamimalai (where he taught his father Lord Shiva), and Thiruttani (where he attained peace after war). Visiting all six temples is considered highly auspicious for spiritual growth and fulfillment of wishes.

  • The best time to visit the Arupadai Veedu temples is from November to February when the weather in Tamil Nadu is pleasant and comfortable for traveling. However, if you wish to witness the grand Murugan festivals, then Thai month (January-February) for Thai Poosam festival and Panguni month (March-April) for Panguni Uthiram are especially auspicious. We recommend avoiding the intense summer months (April to June) as temperatures can be extremely high in parts of Tamil Nadu. During major festivals, expect larger crowds but also a more vibrant spiritual experience.

  • Yes, there are specific dress codes and customs to follow during this pilgrimage. Traditional Indian attire is recommended - dhoti/veshti with angavastram or shirt for men, and sarees, churidars, or long skirts with modest tops for women. Some temples require men to remove their shirts before entering the sanctum sanctorum. Leather items (belts, wallets) may need to be left outside at certain temples. Our guides will inform you about specific customs at each temple. It's also customary to take a bath before visiting the temples and maintain silence during prayers. Photography is restricted inside the main sanctums of all temples.

  • Absolutely! We offer flexible customization options for our Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage. You can choose to extend your stay at specific locations, include additional temples or attractions along the route, upgrade accommodation, or arrange for special rituals/poojas at any of the temples. Some pilgrims also choose to include the Pazham Mudisolai temple visit as a separate day to spend more time there. For families with elderly members, we can also adjust the pace of travel. Please contact our travel experts for personalized pilgrimage arrangements to accommodate your specific spiritual and travel preferences.

  • For your Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage, we recommend packing the following: traditional clothing (as mentioned in the dress code), a small pooja kit (if you wish to perform personal rituals), comfortable walking shoes (as some temples require walking up hills), a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, umbrella (for sun protection), personal medications, basic toiletries, and a small towel. Since this is a spiritual journey, pack minimally and avoid valuables. Don't forget your ID proof for hotel check-in. We recommend bringing offerings like coconuts, flowers or fruits that you may wish to present at the temples, though these can also be purchased locally near each temple.

  • The Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage involves visiting temples that have varying degrees of accessibility. Some temples like Palani and Thiruttani are situated on hills and require climbing numerous steps, which might be challenging for elderly people or those with mobility issues. However, we do make special arrangements for elderly pilgrims, including battery cars where available, wheelchair assistance at select locations, and modified itineraries with more rest breaks. Temples like Thiruchendur and parts of Swamimalai are relatively more accessible. If traveling with elderly family members, please inform us in advance so we can customize the tour accordingly and ensure their comfort throughout the journey.
